In the 1950s, airline company SAS wanted to connect Europe and California. To create the shortest connection between the two points, SAS planned to fly via the North Pole, a difficult route at the time. The company made state-of-the-art preparations for this project. All crews were trained at the "SAS Arctic Flight School". To ensure they were properly equipped, each crew member was allocated a UG Polerouter or Polarouter, a small watch capable of withstanding the strong magnetic field in the Arctic region. The cushion-shaped case is very rare on the market, as demonstrated by the fact that no identical model is listed in the LuxPrice-index©.
