  Descripción : The dial signed for Thomas Tompion The case with overhanging cornice supported on barley twist columns over a convex throat moulding, the long trunk door of good figure and set on a panel base and bun feet, the ten inch square brass dial with winged cherubs head spandrels around a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, each five minute numeral sitting within the minute band along with the half-quarter markers, later signed along the lower edge 'Tho Tompion, London', the finely matted centre with small subsidiary seconds dial and chamfered date aperture, the substantial weight driven movement with shaped plates to accommodate the three trains united by five knopped and ringed pillars, with anchor escapement and inside countwheel strike on a single bell for the hours and furthermore playing one of two tunes on a 2.5inch diameter pinned barrel on seventeen bells and thirty two hammers, (the music activated every three hours via a countwheel mounted on the backplate, or released on demand)..2.01m (6ft 7ins) high

The inner case with dents and now lacking shutter for winding hole.

The exhibit was closed in the 80s due to fire damage. The museum later organized an exhibition called Time which was on view from 2001 until 2004.
