A fine and very rare gilt brass solar-powered dome table clock with original box.Signed Patek Philippe, Genève, ref. 717, Dome model, movement no. 872'673, case no. 182, manufactured in 1958.Cal. 17''' circular gilt-finished lever movement powered through a photo electric cell, 29 jewels, Gyromax balance, free sprung regulator, the battery recharged by the solar panel, silvered matte dial with engraved baton numerals on raised gilt chapter ring, gilt dauphine hands, cylindrical satined case, finely engraved and applied scene depicting The Four Cardinal Points centred by a weathercock, all over engraved sunburst motif, the solar panel set into a circular aperture in the domed revolving top representing the moon surmounted by an applied stylised cloud, all over engraved sunburst design surrounded by applied polished stars, on three fluted feet, case and movement numbered, dial signed.230 mm. high.Pre-Lot Text.The following two lots, 369 & 369, are from Patek Philippe's early series of the celebrated and highly collectable Dome table clocks, fitted with a 17''' mechanical movement, electrically wound and powered through the solar cells..The solar-powered Dome table clock was launched in the mid-1950s.
