Denise Gatard
Rare red and black glazed ceramic chalice by Denise Gatard from the 1955's. Elder sister of the famous ceramist Georges Jouve, Denise Gatard trained at the École d'arts appliqués (School of Applied Arts) in Paris. After working in Jean Dunand's workshop where she was introduced to lacquer, she followed her husband to Indochina and then to Algeria and Morocco, where she became familiar with clay modelling. After the war, she perfected her skills with her brother in Paris.
Signature : Monogrammed.
Condition : Very good vintage condition. No cracks or chips. The red enamel luster is remarkable.
