Victor Vasarely left Hungary in the 1930s to settle in Paris as a graphic artist. He worked for advertising agencies, for whom he developed a special technique by playing with shapes, volumes and colours, today known as Optical Art. It is to him, notably, that we owe the famous Renault logo.
In 1944, he began his career as a painter in the brand new gallery of his friend Denise René. It was there that he developed the composition of his geometric abstract art paintings using a minimal number of shapes and colours.
Twenty years later, Time magazine described this type of work as Op Art (optical art), which makes Victor Vasarely its inventor.Collector Square has selected silkscreen prints and lithographs by Victor Vasarely, all signed and numbered, that perfectly illustrate his work on geometry, providing access to genuine works of art at affordable prices.
