Salvatore Ferragamo bags
The Salvatore Ferragamo brand was created in 1920 in the North of Italy. It wasn't until 1923 that it opened its first shop in Hollywood, then called "Hollywood Boot Shop."
In 1927, Salvatore Ferragamo decided to return to Italy, in order to expand its business through high quality, specialised Italian manpower. He chose Florence to open his first shop. He did not end his relationship with the United States, since his creations were exported there until the stock market crash of 1929, when he had to turn to an exclusively Italian clientele. In 1936, as a result of his success, Salvatore Ferragamo could open a second boutique.
At the end of the 1930s, with shortages imposed by the fascist regime, the raw materials used for production were in short supply, and he had to find new solutions. Salvatore Ferragamo made people talk about his creativity, and he used unusual materials such as raffia, metallic yarn, cork, etc. This gave his creations an extravagant side and earned him great fame.
The label grew so much that in 1950, it had 700 employees already and dressed international film stars. Ferragamo bags are carried by women around the world, from all generations.
Salvatore Ferragamo died in 1960. His daughter, Flamma Ferragamo, took over as creative director of the brand. Her first shoe collection was presented in London in 1961 and met with wide success.
Beginning in the 1970s, Salvatore Ferragamo tried to diversify: it created men’s shoe collections, then ready-to-wear accessories and fragrances.
Today, the label has more than 450 stores around the world and is adored for the quality of its products and its creativity. Today’s collections continue the tradition of yesterday, and are emblematic of Italian know-how.
