The history of Cartier Santos-100

Watches Cartier Santos-100

The Santos by Cartier is a watch that was first devised as an original design to reward the winners of sporting and society events.

This watch was created by Louis Cartier in the middle of the Belle Époque, in honour of his friendship with the Brazilian aviator and tycoon, Alberto Santos-Dumont, hence its name. Santos was famous at that time for his wealth and his lifestyle.

The Cartier Santos 100 was created in 2004 to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the famous Santos model. In order to adapt to the aesthetic standards of the time, the Santos 100 is wider and thicker, giving it an "excessive" appearance which is much sought after by collectors.

Available in gold or steel, the Santos 100 watch surprises and charms visitors with its plus-size elegance.
