Beschreibung : Thomas Tompion. A gold pair case verge pocket watch.Signed Tho. Tompion, London, No. 671. Circa 1685.The gilt chain fusee verge movement with profusely pierced and engraved cock and foot with floral decorations, pierced tulip pillars, the gold champlevé dial with engraved and blacked Roman numerals, outer Arabic five minute divisions, diamond half hour marks and inner quarter hour ring, blued steel beetle and poker hands, in plain gold inner case, numbered 171 with maker's mark N.D. for Nathaniel Delander and a dagger mark, hallmarked London 1685, in a (later) gold repousse outer case with a classical scene.47 mm. diam.

Circa 1690.The frosted gilt chain fusee movement with engraved and pierced cock and foot with irregular outline secured by a single screw, steel three armed balance with blued steel hairspring, pierced tulip pillars and verge escapement, the (later) white enamel dial with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds and (later) blued steel beetle and poker hands, in (later) heavy plain consular silver/gilt case with gilt bezel, scalloped hinges and dust cover to the back.50 mm.

Circa 1700.The frosted gilt chain fusee movement with profusely pierced and chased cock and foot to the edge of the top plate, pierced tulip pillars, verge escapement, the silver champlevé dial with engraved and blacked Roman chapters, diamond half-hour marks, inner quarter-hour ring, outer Arabic five-minute divisions, blued steel beetle and poker hands, in plain silver inner case with makers mark W.A. for William Achurch, with split bezel, seven piece hinge and dust cover to the winding hole, the outer case with makers mark W.S. surmounted by a crown and further stamped 3118.53 mm. diam.
