    Description : A Japanese carved mulberry wood and brass double foliot dai-dokei with alarm.Mid 19th Century.The brass clock case engraved overall with peonies and chrysanthemums and with turned baluster columns to each angle, the dial with single calendar aperture above the revolving blued steel chapter ring with alarm pin and Japanese characters revolving against a fixed pierced brass hand, the movement going train with double foliot escapement, the countwheel for the strike train planted on the backplate with hour strike and alarm on the bell positioned above the plates, the mulberry wood stand naturalistically carved with leafy branches and flowerheads.25_ in. (65 cm.) high

    Description : The original signature rubbed and now signed for Fromanteel the square topped hood with low caddy over an over hanging ogee moulding, gilt ball finials and blind fret, glazed rectangular side apertures and Doric style columns, the deep convex throat moulding over a long trunk door with D-moulded edge and excellent figuring, on a crossbanded panel base on bun feet, the 11 inch square brass dial with winged cherubs head spandrels interspersed with engraved foliage and flowerheads, later signature below the silvered Roman and arabic chapter ring enclosing the matted centre with ringed winding squares, decorated date aperture and subsidiary seconds, the substantial movement with five knopped and finned pillars and anchor escapement with outside countwheel strike on a bell 2.16m. high.

Rectangular with square cross-section, made of mulberry wood with glazed sides and the top, one of the panels sliding for an access to the clock, the movement on the ivory base with four curved feet standing on small mulberry base with a drawer for key, circular silver pierced and engraved hood with hinged glazed bezel over the dial. D. Revolving gilt brass with 12 silver movable rectangular hour plaques, set in circular aperture of the brass dial plate engraved with stylized foliage, two winding apertures. Elaborate stationary single blued steel hand. M. Triple tier, gilt brass, full plates, baluster and cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement brass balance with flat balance spring, double footed cock, going barrel for striking on a bell.Dim.
