In the 50's, with its first professional creations, the Rolex house supports some adventurers, true sporting feats. This way, Rolex with the Explorer I became the official sponsor of the victorious Everest ascent. Indeed, the Explorer was worn by the Sherpa, Tersing Norway, during his expedition in 1953, it is now in the Rolex museum in Geneva. Easily recognizable thanks to its spare style : its black dial, its reversed large triangle at 12 o'clock, its3/6/9 luminescent numbers and its round case. The Explorer I became a classic of the Rolex house and has a hight collector value.
